Blocks with Backgrounds
.csq for Statler v6 and v7 only
We quilters love feather wreaths and other motifs for filling plain blocks in custom work. But what to do with the background? Trim? Fill? Freehand? The patterns on this page combine a center motif and a background in one pattern. You can skip all the steps of echoes, boundaries, trim and fill. It's all done!
Below you'll find blocks in both traditional and contemporary style to fit almost any mood. Patterns have been designed in 8", 10" 12" and 14" sizes, but all can be adjusted to be slightly larger or smaller to suit your needs.
There will be several tie offs within the pattern, in order to create clean echo lines, but I've worked hard to eliminate most of the overstitching in even the most complex fill backgrounds.
Blocks with curved edges should be set, Pattern to Boundary, with a standard margin. Grid and Plaid backgrounds will look best if set with almost no margin at the edges. Stitch in Points will help to make accurate connections when grid lines and feathers change direction. Multiple inside echoes, as in Cherry Wreath and Antique Feather, will look best if tie-offs are turned off and thread ends are tied and buried by hand.
Please Note: These are offered only in CSQ format for the Statler Stitcher. DO NOT order if you are running any other type of computerized system. CSQ will not convert to another format.
