Our Cancellation Policy We know that unexpected things can happen in our lives and we occasionally have someone who will not be able to join us. Anyone having to cancel after February 1 will not receive a refund, but can be transferred to our 2020 calendar. We are happy to offer a one-time transfer to any student needing a late cancel, but at this late date, menus have been planned and the $200 meal cost will not be transferred.

Our schedule is always a mix of software classes, design inspiration, and how-to, special projects, quilt challenge, show and tell, and fun. Joan and I will be writing our specific lesson plans soon and have plans to present CS at levels from simple to advanced. Watch for details to be added here soon :)
Dream Big One of the classes to look forward to is our Dream Big staff challenge with each of us showing and explaining how we quilted our own special pieces.
Studio Design Joan is planning a lecture on studio design. We are both in the process of building new studio spaces, so we can show you what we’ve done, but we’re hoping you will share your ideas with everyone too. Please send Joan a picture or two of your best ideas on thread and batting storage, design wall, lighting, flooring, cutting tables, other furniture or accessories, etc. firstname.lastname@example.org
Using CS 7.1 We also hope to solve some of your everyday quilting problems. Please send us a note with suggestions for topics we can include. email@example.com
The Trash to Treasure Challengeis sure to be a big hit. This should be fun! We love seeing what our Belles do with a challenge!
Here are the rules: If you accept this challenge, you will be required to make a quilt no large than 30"x30". Quilting must be done on your Statler Stitcher. Most quilters go to retreats, workshops, sew-ins, or sew with friends. When you do, ask for their leftovers, check out the waste bins. Selvages are a great thing to request. You will be allowed to use (from your stash or purchase) the background fabric and backing only. Use the features of CS and any tips and tricks you have learned coming to Belle. Remember: One man’s trash is another man's treasure. If you have questions please private message or email Lee Ann Lively at firstname.lastname@example.org
Bell Charms and Pins Our Belle pins have been a favorite item and we are offering them again this year, along with a two-sided charm that can be added to a Pandora bracelet, necklace, or any other way you might want to show you are a Belle.
Pins and charms must be ordered and paid for in advance and will be ready to pick up at our registration table when you check in. Our last date to have them made is March 1. Please be sure your order is received before that date.
What to Bring with You Dress at Southern Belle is casual. Layers are always recommended since classrooms can be cold at times, but the weather in the spring is usually beautiful. Our hotel is located at the end of historic Bath House Row, so bring good walking shoes and plan on exploring the shops, food, fountains, etc. up and down the street.
We don’t use laptops in class, but you’ll want one to do some SAM practice after hours in your room or in our hospitality room, where you can share ideas with others. Photos are always welcome, so plan on using a camera or cell phone to take memories back home with you. Quilts to bring include a Dream Big if you have already quilted one, your Trash to Treasure piece, and something for show and tell. We love seeing what you have been doing!
Food Our meals will all be served at the hotel, but it wouldn’t be fair to keep you locked up when there are also many cute little places to pick up a bite to eat, a sweet, or maybe listen to a band playing. We plan to give you a little free time to explore this historic area too.
The Fordyce Bath House gives free tours of the building and explains a lot of the history of the area. I’ve done this two or three times and highly recommend it. Ask ahead for their schedule, if you are interested.
Spas and Specials Check the web pages above to find information on scheduling a hot bath or massage while you are in Hot Springs. Plus, if you haven’t heard, the Arlington hotel is offering a 10% spa discount to our Belles!
Other Notes On a personal note, my sister Beverly will be my traveling companion for this trip. Dick will be home watching last details on the new house, getting garden plants started, and keeping up with his job of “chicken tender”. Some of you know Bev because of her beautiful pottery. I’m sure we will bring a few pieces with us, but if there is something specific you would like from her, please visit her website www.ancientsisterart.com and I’m sure she will do her best to have it ready for you at Belle.

We can keep the prices the same as previous years; $65 if we order in volume. Both of these were made as suggestions from our Belles and we expect them to sell quickly. We're hoping you love them as much as we love all our Belles. Our last date to have them made is March 1.
We know that unexpected things can happen in our lives and we occasionally have someone who will not be able to join us.
Designer Policy We welcome designers to join us at Southern Belle as students. Designers will be introduced during our reception and may put a quarter page B&W advertisement/discount coupon in our handout booklet at no charge.
Designers wishing to stay for both weeks to meet and socialize with all of our Belle students may join us by paying only a guest fee for the additional week. This will allow access to our reception, show and tell, quilt shop, quilt show, hospitality room, and our Saturday evening program, but not to the classroom sessions a second time. Student week and Guest week can be scheduled in either order, depending on availability and which group you prefer.
Every year we have a complaint or two about distractions or interruptions during class time. In order to provide for a better learning environment for everyone during class, we ask that you keep your personal conversations to a minimum so that students sitting near you can hear the presentations. Everyone wants to see and hear what is being offered and we want your attention, too.
We understand that no one travels these days without a cell phone to keep in touch with family. And, we do encourage you to bring your laptops for use after class to practice new techniques or to study pattern choices and share ideas with others.
But, please, no use of cell phones or laptops during class time. If there is a need for an emergency phone conversation, please take it out to the hallway. And due to safety concerns with laptop cords, we ask you to schedule your laptop time after class.
Also, because some of our students have problems/allergies with fragrances, we ask that you be thoughtful about this as you get ready for the day.
