Here's what our Belles are saying about their experience with us and their advice for others.
Sit at different tables for breakfast because it is a super way to get to know other people, especially since we try (emphasis on try) to talk about the topic on the table.
New Belles, we have lots of laughs while we are learning.
Sit a different table each day during lecture as you will always find someone with welcome laughter and experience. Bring quilts to hand bind and for show and tell. Take notes in the book they give you as it's great material.
Don't be afraid to ask questions!! In class, out of class. Bring a camera that you can turn the flash off. Take pictures of the big screen. You can review them when you back home.
The hospitality room is great. Make plans to go there after class.
2nd most important place of the whole experience. Lots of learning going on there.
Comfortable clothes are a must. The food is great! We are well cared for.
Post it note flags to mark exceptional ideas in your notes are helpful. The on site quilt shop has an amazing supply of things any Statler owner could want.
Don't be shy as there are a lot of new friends to meet !!!!
Just go and enjoy--you will become a new member in a wonderful family of Statler Belles!
Bring a smile and be willing to talk to complete strangers like you have known them all your life!
I love, love, love this group!!! If you go to Belle, one should be able to take a little ribbing every now and again. Isn't that right Miss Pizza Grid?
Just sayin, a past president from my guild in Texas, went to Australia to a quilt shop and met peeps that know me. Now, she was just baffled. See, you can be world famous from Belle......................
Don't feel intimidated if you are a newbie, or don't have a business yet, or are still using CS 4.2. These folks will bless your heart!
If you have a family member who might be coming along, bring them! DeGray State Park is beautiful. There is a large lake with boating and fishing, a golf course, trails, horseback riding... they can be having a good time while you are at the conference.
Crazy good time and lots of learning going on. Tremendous sharing.
Last year was my first trip to Belle, but rest assured it will not be my last. Everything was great, all the time was just for the Belles. So if like me there are butterflies in your stomach, realize that is a good thing. You will not be disappointed.
