Welcome to our Southern Belle Fall Retreat!
2018 will be our 7th year at DeGray Lake lodge. Each year we have added more students, expanded our schedule, made new friends, and learned so much about quilting and using Creative Studio at it's very best. We love our Belles and the retreat has become very much of a reunion from year to year.
DeGray is a beautiful place and our classroom looks out over the lake. Guest rooms, dining room, and classroom are all located in the lodge with only a short walk from one place to the other.
Payment: Full Registration $495 Includes goody bag, reception, 3 days of classes, all meals, quilt shop, quilt show, and Show and Tell. Deposit $200 to hold your space. Remainder due July 1. Guest Package $200 Inlcudes all meals, reception, quilt show, and Show and Tell. Refunds minus PayPal fees are given if you cancel before July 1, 2018.
If our registration becomes full, please consider adding your name to our waiting list. We find every year that some people need to cancel and others move up. There is no need to pay a deposit until your spot is confirmed.
Our schedule is always a mix of software classes, design inspiration and how-to, special projects, quilt challenge, show and tell, and fun. Joan and I don't write our specific lesson plans until just a few months out since we want the information to be the most current we can offer.
I will send regular newsletters to keep you up to date as we progress through the year. Those on the waiting list will also receive the newsletter so everyone is kept current.
Below please find the payment link, registration form, and our current student list. After making your deposit, please return to this page to fill out the registration form giving us your information, emergency contact, and dietary restrictions.

Designer Policy We welcome designers to join us at Southern Belle as students. Designers will be introduced during our reception and may put a quarter page B&W advertisement/discount coupon in our handout booklet at no charge. Designers wishing to stay for both weeks to meet and socialize with all of our Belle students may join us by paying only a guest fee for the additional week. This will allow access to our reception, show and tell, quilt shop, quilt show, hospitality room, and our Saturday evening program, but not to the classroom sessions a second time. Student week and Guest week can be scheduled in either order, depending on availability and which group you prefer.
Every year we have a complaint or two about distractions or interruptions during class time. In order to provide for a better learning environment for everyone during class, we ask that you keep your personal conversations to a minimum so that students sitting near you can hear the presentations. Everyone wants to see and hear what is being offered and we want your attention, too.
We understand that no one travels these days without a cell phone to keep in touch with family. And, we do encourage you to bring your laptops for use after class to practice new techniques or to study pattern choices and share ideas with others.
But, please, no use of cell phones or laptops during class time. If there is a need for an emergency phone conversation, please take it out to the hallway. And due to safety concerns with laptop cords, we ask you to schedule your your laptop time after class.
Also, because some of our students have problems/allergies with fragrances, we ask that you be thoughtful about this as you get ready for the day.
